Condition: Very good, small blemish on the sheet that is covered by the mat.

About: A thought-provoking work by Arnold Houbraken that showcases emblems, each representing different aspects of wealth and poverty. Three cherubic putti are positioned on a cloud cover. To the right side, two putti are engrossed in examining an apple while casting curious glances at the third putto who appears to have his hands bound. This composition symbolises the stark contrast between opulence and poverty. Houbraken produced this work between 1710-1719 in Amsterdam. The artwork's message prompts reflection on societal disparities that persist even today. The juxtaposition of abundance and destitution serves as a reminder of our collective responsibility for social issues.

Arnold Houbraken was a Dutch painter and writer from Dordrecht, he mainly painted mythological and religious paintings, portraits and landscapes. Best known for the art historical work The Great Theatre of Dutch Painters (1718–1721).
