Condition: Overall in good condition with some losses commensurate with age and use.
Provenance: Purportedly Ex Collection of Alitalia CEO.

About: Pokrov of Mother of God is an Icon from the Volga region and the workshop of the Old Believers tradition. It is similarly referred to as “Intercession of the Theotokos”, in the Greek tradition.

The Icon is also sometimes referred to as “The Protection of the Mother of God” and can be depicted with the virgin holding a veil through to more detailed depictions in the Old Believers tradition such as this icon.
