About: Capture the elegance of the Georgian era with this exquisite miniature portrait painting on ivory, housed in a double-sided silver-gilded frame, of a refined Georgian gentleman showcasing the craftsmanship of its time. The back houses an intricate weave of hair. This was a common practice in both the Georgian and Victorian periods; people would have portraits painted, often with stylised weaves of hair displayed on the back as reminders of loved ones.

Although not visibly signed, this painting is in the style of Nathaniel Plimer (British 1757-1822), a British portrait miniature painter of note. He studied drawing with Richard Cosway, who was a leading Georgian and Regency portrait painter of the time. He exhibited twenty-six works at the Royal Academy from 1787 until 1815. Many of Plimer’s miniature portraits are highly regarded for their detail and his ability to capture his sitter.

Own a piece of history with this timeless miniature, offering a glimpse into the elegance of the Georgian era that brings an air of sophistication and connection to the past.
