About: The Cavalry charge was an offensive maneuver in battle in which combatants advanced toward their enemy at their best speed in an attempt to engage in decisive close combat. The charge was the dominant attack of the day and has been the key tactic and decisive moment in many battles throughout history.

Works such as Scotland Forever! by Lady Butler (1846 – 1933) and Capture of the Eagle, Waterloo, 1898 by William Holmes Sullivan 1836-1908 encouraged mainstream notoriety to Militaria painting as an independent genre and bolstered the romanticism of war in both a historical and allegorical context.
